Terms of Service
By using Storm Sniff you agree to these terms. They're meant to be readable rather than impenetrable — if anything is unclear, email hello@stormsniff.com.
What Storm Sniff is
An information service that monitors weather, lightning, and fireworks events and notifies you when conditions are likely to distress your dog. It runs as a web app and (on Pro) sends notifications via push, email, SMS and WhatsApp.
Your account
- You're responsible for keeping your password safe.
- One person, one account. Don't share logins.
- You must be 16+ to create an account (the app isn't designed for children).
- Don't pretend to be someone else.
Free vs Pro
The Free tier (one nightly outlook email + read-only dashboard) is yours forever, no card required. Pro adds real-time alerts and additional channels for $4.99/month or $39/year, billed via Stripe. You can cancel any time from the billing portal — your Pro features stay active until the end of the current billing period.
Refunds
If something goes wrong on our end (a bug, an outage that meant you missed an alert), email us within 14 days and we'll refund the period in question. Outside that, we don't offer prorated refunds — just cancel and you won't be billed again.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the data.
- Use the service to send unsolicited messages.
- Try to break into the system or other users' accounts.
- Use the service in a way that violates the law in your country.
We can suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
Data & privacy
Covered separately in the Privacy Policy. Short version: we collect only what we need to deliver alerts, we don't sell your data, and you can delete your account whenever.
Liability
We try hard to deliver alerts on time, but no weather or notification system is perfect. Lightning data has detection lags, push services can be delayed, networks fail. Storm Sniff is provided "as is" — we can't guarantee every storm will be alerted, and we're not liable for any loss (including injury to your dog) caused by an alert that didn't arrive or arrived late. Your safety routines should not depend on a single notification.
Where required by law, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) AUD $100.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll email you 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after that means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia. Disputes will be heard in Adelaide courts unless required otherwise by your local consumer protection law.
